Finland

Finland is a land of lakes and forests and wide open spaces. It also has some of the last true wilderness areas left in Europe. Every season is different here – in summer there is endless daylight in the northern part of the country whilst in autumn and winter the Aurora Borealis lights up the dark sky with its amazing colours. In spring thousands of birds arrive to spend the summer here raising their young.

With over a 1000 Natura 2000 sites to choose from, one is spoilt for where to go. We have picked out 4 contrasting areas in which you can enjoy various nature based activities – be it hiking, cross country skiing, river rafting etc…

  • Pyhä-Luosto: Finland’s southern most fjell region and mysterious aapa mires
  • Evo: one of the largest continuous forested areas in Southern Finland.
  • Hossa-Kylmäluoma: In the Middle of Finland, Hossa has sparkling lakes and rivers, grand ridges and hills
  • Ruunaa: Eastern Finland offers an unforgettable scenary close to the Russian border which is ideal for white water rafting, hiking, cycling and cross country skiing
